Get an xAI (Grok) API key
Create a key in the xAI console to use Grok models.
1. Create your account
- 1Go to console.x.ai and sign in, or create an xAI account.
- 2Create or join a team/workspace if prompted.
2. Create the API key
- 1In the console, open the API Keys section.
- 2Click "Create API key", give it a name, and confirm.
- 3Copy the key immediately — it is shown only once.
xAI keys start with "xai-".
3. Add billing
- 1Open the Billing section of the console.
- 2Add a payment method and a starting credit balance.
4. Keep it safe
Treat an API key like a password. Anyone who has it can spend on your account. Never post it publicly, commit it to a git repository, or paste it into a chat. If a key is ever exposed, revoke it in the provider console and create a new one.

Does SuperGrok include API access?
